A Glance at the Book "The Most Comfortable Residence"
The title of this book is "The Most Comfortable Residence". It is a collection of the best short stories of 2016. In this book, my short story was selected in the nomination for best short story. The storyline that I wrote in this short story takes place in Berang Ene District. which is centered in the villages of Kalimantong, Mujahidin (Fajar), Hijrah, Mataiyang, and Mura. A look at the estuary of a very natural scenery. I want to give color to the imagination of a very natural, pure and beautiful rural picture. And all of that is depicted in the village.
I actually wanted to depict the beauty of Taliwang City and the elite centers in West Sumbawa, such as the Kemutar Telu Center (KTC), Graha Fitrah, the Darussalam Grand Mosque, the Grand Royal Hotel, and the Tiang Enam City Park. However, because I wanted to give my readers a greener perspective, I chose a rural setting with pristine rice paddy views.
The character I chose in this short story is a teacher. An unsung hero who taught tirelessly in remote areas. This teacher is still around today and is still healthy. I still remember him, with his old motorcycle, in the 1990s, eager to teach. He lived in Manemeng Village, formerly Mura Village. I think many readers are familiar with him, especially "Tua Brang Ene."
I titled the short story "A Verse of Prayer for the Teacher," which means that a student should never forget the teacher who taught them knowledge. Even though the teacher is gone, their spirit and knowledge will always be remembered. A student should pray for the teacher who has been instrumental in guiding them.
Since before I had the idea to write, I was thinking about how to convey his story and struggles in a story. And finally when I started writing a short story manuscript and I sent it to the Indonesian Language and Culture Program Literacy Competition, Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, the Center for Humanities Studies, FBSS, Padang State University. And Alhamdulillah... it was accepted and published in the Best Short Story Collection 2016 with the title above. And that was my first writing.
As a novice writer, I was very happy and grateful when my short story manuscript was accepted. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of several books, novels, and short stories to be published, God willing. Through this overview, I would like to express my gratitude and apologize if the story in the short story still has many shortcomings.
