Did you know that the paper we normally use today was first introduced to the Islamic world after Battle of Talas in 751 AD? When the Abbasid army defeated the Tang Dynasty of China, paper craftsmen from China were brought to Samarkand (now Uzbekistan).
From here, papermaking techniques spread to other Islamic regions. Paper made it easier to write and disseminate knowledge, fostering the development of science and culture. This also encouraged the establishment of libraries and centers of learning, making Islamic civilization one of the most advanced of its time.
