Millennial Generation Trends: Exploring Soullessness

The trend of the emergence of translated books from authors foreign (Western writers) especially on the themes of motivation, self-development, habit (habits), processing thoughts and so on are hitting the millennial community in Indonesia.

Who knows, is it because Indonesian society, especially the millennial generation, has lost its grip on life, lacks optimism, or perhaps their souls are truly barren and frustrated, leading to a mentality of giving up easily?

This phenomenon must be addressed wisely, because in this millennial decade, most people's routines tend to be monotonous, creating mindsets that influence how they live their lives. Living a routine that doesn't bring about change in daily life is seen as a common factor in the emergence of a loser mentality and the downfall of a winner mentality.

For example, a motivational book with the title Atomic Habit by James Clear, [translated into Indonesian] has become a best-selling motivational book read by the millennial generation. This book presents a discussion of motivation in life, starting with simple things. James Clear traces the discussion from the smallest things, such as (atom) which will later have a big influence on a person.

Clear says that human behavior is constantly changing. From situation to situation, from moment to moment, from second to second, and even from year to year. For Clear, these changes can be far better, meaning even small changes can persist over a longer period. These small changes can develop into powerful habits.

Even small habits can have a profound impact, but their impact can be far more lasting and explosive. This is compared to doing something big, but the impact is short-lived and ultimately leads to destruction.

Clear emphasizes that sometimes people overlook small or simple things because they seem unimportant. However, these small and simple things can have a big impact and bring about change for the better. However, the key is commitment, persistence, and optimism. This is the key message in the book. Atomic Habit This.

Another motivational book with the title The Power of Habit, by Charles Duhigg, is also a popular alternative book among millennials to cultivate optimism. In his book, Duhigg analyzes several issues related to habits. He explains that most of the choices we make every day are well-considered. He believes this is a mistake. In fact, these choices are the result of habit.

Duhigg emphasized that understanding habits is the most important thing to learn. It can completely change one's perspective on the world. Nothing is impossible, as long as one understands how to practice habits correctly.

Millennials still rely on numerous motivational and self-development books. These books are excellent tools for improving habits and shaping better mindsets.

Previously, a boom in motivational and self-development books hit Indonesian society around the 2000s, when books from the Middle East were translated into Indonesian. One such book was do not be sad (don't be sad) by Sheikh Dr. Aid Abdullah al-Qarni, a writer, activist, Muslim scholar from Saudi Arabia.

Such is the reality of life. It spins, stops, and changes. The barrenness of the souls of today's society is a characteristic of the disease of modern society.. So said Sayyid Husein Nasr

A new paradox, a shift in trends is sweeping through the minds and choices of sources hegemonized by the times, West and East.
