The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Whoever reads Fatihatul-Kitâb (al-Fatihah), then it is as if he has read the Torah, the Gospel, the Zabur and al-Furqan (al-Qur'an)_
In 2009, I visited one of the foundation libraries where I teach. I found a book. Its cover was somewhat worn, but the writing was still legible. The title was: The Ocean of Al-Fatihah, written by H. Bey Arifin. Published by PT. Bina Ilmu. Curious, I opened it and began reading page by page.
The author's breadth of knowledge is evident. I was truly captivated by the exposition presented in the book. The author, H. Bey Arifin, was born in Parak Laweh, Tilatang Kamang, Agam, West Sumatra, on September 29, 1917, and died in Surabaya, East Java, on April 30, 1995, at the age of 77.
After I read several pages, then I wrote several point important things that are new to my understanding. A number of point The main thing I wrote was about the special qualities of Surah al-Fatihah. Here's the summary.
First, Greatest Privilege (A'zam).
He explained a hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad Muhammad bin Hambal, ra "I was praying and the Messenger of Allah called me, so I didn't respond. After praying I went to him. The Messenger of Allah said; why don't you come to me immediately (return the greeting)... Until the end of the hadith.. The Prophet said: I will teach you as many surahs in the Koran as possible before you leave this mosque. The Prophet said: he is al-Hamdulillah Rabbil 'Alamîîn (and so on). It is 7 (seven) verses which are repeated over and over again and that is the Qur'an al-'Azhim that has been conveyed to me.". (HR. al-Bukhari, Abu Dawud, an-Nasa'I, Ibnu Majah and al-Waqidi from various sources).
Second Specialty, Nothing Equal in the Torah, Injul, Zabur, and Al-Qur'an
Narrated by Ali bin Abi Thalib ra that the Messenger of Allah said: Who reads Fatihatul-Kitâb (al-Fatihah), then it is as if he had read the Torah, the Gospel, the Zabur and al-Furqan (al-Qur'an).
Third Specialty, Only To Muhammad SAW Was It Sent Down.
Narrated by Muslim and Nasa'I from the hadith of Abul Ahwash, from Ibn Abbas ra Says: "One day Rasulullah SAW was sitting with Jibril, suddenly Rasulullah SAW heard a sound from above, then Jibril looked up, then said: That was a door that had opened before this... Until the end of the hadith.. Be happy that you, Muhammad, have received these 2 (two) lights that I have brought, which these two lights have never been given to any Prophet before you, these two lights are the Fatihatul Kita and the last few verses of Surah al-Baqarah, every letter you read from both of them you will definitely get it..
The Fourth Speciality: Receive an Answer Directly from Allah
Whoever reads Surah al-Fatihah, every verse that is read is immediately answered by Allah. Narrated by Muslim from Abu Hurairah ra. He said: "We were behind the Imam (praying) so the Imam said to me: Read al-Fatihah in your heart, because I have heard the Messenger of Allah say: Allah Azza wa Jallah has said: I am for the prayer (meaning, al-Fatihah) between Me and My servant into two parts (meaning: half for My servant)..until the end of the hadith.. This is all for My servant and For My servant what he asks."
The Fifth Feature: Safe From All Dangers
Narrated by al-Buzar from Anas ra Rasulullah Saw said: If you read al-Fatihah and Qul Huwallahu Ahad then you will be safe from everything, except from death."
The Sixth Specialty, Directly From the Throne
Narrated by al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak from Ma'qal bin Yasaar ra, the Messenger of Allah said: Practice everything that is stated in the Qur'an, make lawful what is lawful, make forbidden what is forbidden, and obey it, never deny anything that is said in it, and whatever you doubt (meaning), return it to Allah and those who have knowledge after I die, until the end of the hadith.. So, in fact, the Qur'an is an intercessor, something that is not good at speaking but brings truth and Allah gave me Surah al-Baqarah from the First Remembrance (the holy books that were revealed before Musa (a.s.) and gave me the surah that begins with Thâhâ, Thâsin, and Hâmîm from the tablets of Moses (meaning the Torah) and Surah al-Fatihah was given to me directly from Arasyi.
Seventh Specialty, As a Medicine for All (Mentera).
Narrated by Bukhari from Abu Said al-Kudri ra "One day we were traveling together, spending the night in a village. A slave girl came to us and said: "Indeed, this village is sick and there is no one Among us there is someone who can cure it, is there anyone among you gentlemen who can cure it? One of our group stood up and followed the slave. until the end of the hadith.. The sick person was recited a mantra and was cured. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Who knows, if this Surah (al-Fatihah) is a cure, divide the reward and give me some of it."
These are some of the main notes contained in the book The Ocean of Al-Fatihah, by H. Bey Arifin. There are many other important things contained in the book. Such as the interpretation of each verse, from reading Ta'awwudz, to the word Amen. All are discussed in different chapters and then supplemented with sub-chapters to confirm the important themes contained in each chapter.
And Allah knows best.
