"O Allah. Grant us fear of You, which with that fear can stand between us and our sinful actions against You. O Allah (grant us) obedience to You, which with that obedience will convey us to Your heaven. And O Allah, (give us also) faith, which with that faith will make all the calamities of this world easier for us."
That is the prayer of the Prophet Muhammad that he always conveyed to Allah. He always asked Allah to always give him taste fear, obedience and confidence in this life.
The story that will be explained teaches us about the strength of belief. Abu Darda Uwaimir al-Anshari of Allah's promise to His servants who are willing to exchange their wealth in this world for heaven in the hereafter.
It is said that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was ruling the city of Medina, he informed his companions that the city's roads would be widened. He also asked the general public to donate a small portion of the land in front of their homes for the public benefit.
Without delay, after receiving the mandate, the Companions dispersed to announce the Prophet's message, and most of the people welcomed the Prophet's intentions and intentions. Several hours later, the Companions returned to the palace after making this important announcement.
āThank God⦠"We have conveyed this important announcement to the people of Medina regarding the widening of the road. They welcomed the Prophet's intentions and intentions," reported one of the companions. "However, we have encountered a problem, O Messenger of Allah. There is a resident who does not want to give up half of the land in front of his house. We have explained it, but he remains stubborn in refusing to give up half of the land, O Messenger of Allah."
"Go back to him and tell him that I told him to," the Prophet ordered the friend.
"Okay, O Messenger of Allah"
The companion then returned to the villager who refused to give up half of his land for public benefit. However, after three attempts, the villager remained stubborn and refused to give up any of his land for public benefit. The companion then returned to complain about the refusal to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Upon hearing the report from his companions, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) became curious and asked to be taken to the villager who refused to donate half of his land. Afterward, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and several of his companions, Umar, Abu Bakr, and Abu Darda, accompanied him. Before they knew it, they arrived in front of the rebellious villager's house. The Prophet immediately asked, "What are you doing?"
āWhat is it that makes you unwilling to give half the land in front of your house for the public good, O servant of Allah?ā asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) calmly.
"O Messenger of Allah, I am just an ordinary person, it is not my intention to disobey your orders. Try to see for yourself, O Messenger of Allah, the date palm plant in front of my house
"It grows thickly and bears delicious fruit. It's lush and shady. Unlike the date palms behind my house, which don't grow very well or healthily. And I don't want my date palms to fall over. This is my reason, O Messenger of Allah," said the middle-aged man.
āSo thatās your reason, you donāt want to let go of half of your land, O servant of Allah.ā
"That's right, O Messenger of Allah"
āOkay, how about if Allah will replace your date palm tree with a date palm tree in Paradise that is denser, more fertile and bears delicious fruit?ā The Prophet tried to make an offer to the owner of the date palm. The owner listened attentively. āOnce again, I apologize, O Messenger of Allah, I still do not want to exchange my dense date palm tree for a date palm tree in Paradise, O Messenger of Allah,ā he replied.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was astonished by the man. He had been promised a date palm tree in Paradise, but he still refused. He then made a second offer, and then a third. However, the man still refused to give up half of his land for the public good. The companions who had accompanied the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) were visibly upset by the man's decision.
Shortly before they (the friends) left the man, one of the friends, namely Abu Darda Uwaimir al-Ansari, who heard the conversation between Rasulullah and the owner of the date palm tree, curiously Abu Darda asked Rasulullah Saw.
"O Messenger of Allah. Would the offer of a promise of reward in heaven also apply to me, if I owned this date palm tree?" Abu Darda asked Rasulullah Saw.
"Yes, that also applies to you, Abu Darda," explained Rasulullah.
Unable to convince the man, the Prophet Muhammad finally left the area. Only Abu Darda remained standing there. Then, Abu Darda quietly approached the man who refused to give up half of his land and said,
āOh man, do you know who I am?ā Abu Darda asked, in a firm tone.
"Who doesn't know you, Abu Darda. The richest person in Medina. Your palm plantations and gardens are the largest and thickest in this city"
"If you know who I am, then witness this: take all my date palm plantations right now. And give these date palms to me."
The man seemed in disbelief. He was stunned. He thought Abu Darda must be joking. With an awkward expression, the man said to Abu Darda again:
"O Abu Darda Uwaimir al-Anshar, don't joke. How could you exchange your garden and dense date palm trees for one of my date palm trees. And you are really joking"
"Witness! From now on, bring your belongings and live there, under that dense date palm tree. And now I will invite my wife to live with you," Abu Darda replied with a serious face. The man was overjoyed. A moment later, they made a pact and an agreement, declaring the land legally and legally owned by Abu Darda.
After the incident, one of the companions reported back to the Prophet. The companion said that the land of the man (who refused) could now be used for public benefit. The Prophet seemed curious as to why this was so. The companion explained that it was Abu Darda who had made the land permissible.
Rasulullah smiled, "Abu Darda will get a thick and spacious date palm tree in heaven in the future," said Rasulullah Saw.
That is how strong Abu Darda Uwaimir al-Ansari's belief was. He believed in God's promises. Never doubt the words of the Prophet. In a history, one of his friends once dreamed that he saw a beautiful, shady garden, as wide as the eye could see.
Then the friend told the Messenger of Allah about his dream. "That is Abu Darda's date palm garden that Allah promised in heaven," explained Rasulullah.
