The Secret of Ramadan's Virtues: Why Is Ramadan So Special?

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ صِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

Meaning: "O you who believe, fasting is enjoined upon you as it was enjoined upon those before you so that you may attain piety" (QS. Al-Baqarah, verse 183)

There are many advantages for believers (believer) in fasting during the month of Ramadan. No other month offers more privileges for believers than Ramadan. Therefore, there are several virtues worth knowing. Here's a review.

Buya Hamka tells in the book Tafsir al-Azhar about the meaning of verse 83 in Al-Baqarah letter, that Abdullah bin Mas'ud once said that if a verse begins with a call to believers, we already know that this verse contains an important matter or a serious prohibition.

God Himself gave this difficult command, and God knows who it will fall upon—those who have faith, of course. Therefore, the command to fast is God's call to those who truly have faith, believe, and are willing to make sacrifices.

This is the first privilege in the month of Ramadan that Allah grants "exclusively" to believers. Why believers? Because believers are those who willingly accept whatever commands Allah places upon them. If this command were given to an unbeliever, it would be ineffective. Meaning, the command would be in vain.

A believer can control his desires by carrying out the commands of Allah SWT. In this way, a believer educates iradât or will and can restrain lust. There are two types of lust that affect life. First lust vagina or sex. Second, lust. If both are uncontrolled, humans will collapse and turn into animals.

So, fasting imposed on believers will raise the level and level of their faith and patience. Rasulullah SAW said;

God bless you

“Ash-shaumu nishfush-shabri (fasting is half patience).” (HR. Ibn Majah and At-Tirmidhi). Fasting is half (nishfu) Be patient. Then the reward will exceed the rules of determination and calculation.

A believer can restrain his desires by following Allah SWT's commands, even if he lives alone in a remote place, with no one to pay attention to him. However, that is the strength of a believer (mukmin) who will continue to carry out their Lord's commands.

Because he believed God would reward him for all his deeds. Thus, Hamka's advice regarding the special qualities of Ramadan for believers.

In other words, Ramadan makes a believer more special. He elevates his status. He excels in his faith, knowledge, and deeds. He becomes more devout and trusting in God. This heightened faith, in turn, gives rise to other special qualities. First, because of his faith his minor sins were erased from him.

وَعَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ – صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ – ، قَالَ : (( الصَّلَوَاتُ الخَمْسُ ، وَالجُمُعَةُ إِلَى الجُمُعَةِ ، God bless you إِذَا اجْتُنِبَتِ الكَبَائِرُ )) رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.

From Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu 'anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Five daily prayers, Friday to Friday, and Ramadan to Ramadan are the expiation of sins among all of them, if major sins are avoided." (HR. Muslim No. 233).

Second, his faith causes him to enter heaven. Third, His faith means that all his good deeds, especially in the month of Ramadan, are increased many times over by Allah SWT. Fourth, Because of his faith, his piety was elevated, making him a noble person in the sight of Allah SWT.

Such is the specialness of the month of Ramadan, especially for believers. May we be able to maintain it. Faith, Islam And Ihsan So that our degree of Islam increases to the degree of Mukmin, to the degree of Muhsin. Amîîn ya rabbal alamîîn.
