The Glory of Women in Islam: Reflections on Mother's Day

Islam truly honors women. For centuries, women, from the early Greeks to the Arabs of ignorance, have never been treated fairly. Instead, they have been subjected to oppression, harassment, discrimination, and even sacrificed to satisfy the lusts of kings.

In several literary studies of human civilization, from the Greeks, Romans, Persians, Jews, Christians, to the Arabs of the Jhiliyah, women's status fluctuates without a clear identity. Their status and rights are robbed, marginalized, and thrown into the depths of humiliation.

Quo-Vadis Women in the Tyranny of Human Civilization History?

Sheikh Ali bin Sa'id al-Ghamidi in the book The Evidence of Muslimah which has been translated into Indonesian Muslimah Fiqh. First, Sheikh al-Ghamidi recorded the position of women in the nation Greece. In their view, women have no position at all, other than as a means of satisfying men's lust and a means of reproduction.

Greek law positioned women as nothing more than mere servants. The condition of the Greek people, with their bestial nature, made women merely a means of satisfaction. lust. Surprisingly, women with bad morals and bad behavior had a respected position in the Greek community.

On the contrary, the position of women who are 'immoral,' without morals, is used as a reference for deliberation among them. Women who have no morals are then praised, to the point of being worshiped and even deified, for example, such as Aphrodite (Goddess of love) like Greek mythology.

Not much different from the Greek nation, the nation Roman Legally, women were rendered completely devoid of personality. Women were treated as a measure of worthlessness, like people with amnesia (insanity). Worse still, in Roman society, women who lived with their husbands severed their ties with their families.

Regardless of where they adopted the law, Roman husbands had the right to punish their wives at will. If a wife committed a crime, she could face the death penalty. This punishment was only applicable to women, as they were considered particularly weak.

Several forms of discrimination experienced by Roman wives fueled domestic turmoil and problems. Divorce, infidelity, and adultery were rampant. Women's role as disruptors in other people's households was more dominant. Men often sought out women of poor morals rather than their own wives, as they were seen as mere servants.

Then, the position of women in the eyes of the people Jewish considered more bitter than death. In the Jewish view, women are a curse or curse. A woman is not entitled to inheritance when she is with her brother. In Jewish history, women (Eve) were the cause of trouble and sadness.

As for women according to their race Christian, Women were severely marginalized. Christian teachings identified women as the source of demons entering the human body. Christians even believed that demons were attracted to disguise themselves as women. Worse still, until 586 AD, Christians refused to acknowledge the existence of women.

Many Christian men choose to live single and unmarried lives, believing that women are closer to hell and evil. In the Bible and the Torah, women face numerous violations of their individual rights and dignity.

Nation Persia, considering women to be nothing more than mere merchandise or jewelry. Women would be isolated in tents if they were menstruating or postpartum (postpartum).

Persian Culture allowing inter-relative marriage. Men then colonized women and controlled them collectively. This brought disaster, resulting in the mixing of kinship ties, violations of honor and property.

Persian law also supported this, even encouraged it. Anyone who didn't follow the rules would be threatened and punished by the authorities. Those who defied the rules would even be banished. And women who violated the rules would be divorced.

Different from the Persians and other peoples. Arab Jahiliyah more cruel and uncivilized, aka barbaric. Arabs of Jahiliyah would bury their daughters alive for fear of shame and reproach.

In the Arab Jahiliyah era, women were nothing more than inheritance, allowing a son to marry his father's wife (after his death) and forbidding women from marrying for life. This was a blasphemy and cruel treatment of women.

After examining and explaining the various positions of women in various nations and groups mentioned above, it gives us a clear picture that women's status before Islam was far from noble. Far from honorable.

Women After the Arrival of Islam

Finally, Islam came as a symbol of liberation from all forms of tyranny accepted by women. Islam then awarded women with honorary positions and raised the status of women as high as possible. Until the words of Rasulullah SAW made it happen consent Allah is found in the pleasure of parents and Allah's wrath also depends on the wrath of parents.

Ų¹ŁŽŁ†Ł’ Ų¹ŁŽŲØŁ’ŲÆŁ Ų§Ł„Ł„ŁŽŁ‘Ł‡Ł’ God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing. Ų§Ł„Ł’ŁˆŁŽŲ§Ł„ŁŲÆŁ ŁˆŁŽŲ³ŁŽŲ®ŁŽŲ·Ł Ų§Ł„Ų±ŁŽŁ‘ŲØŁŁ‘ فِي Ų³ŁŽŲ®ŁŽŲ·Ł Ų§Ł„Ł’ŁˆŁŽŲ§Ł„ŁŲÆŁ

ā€œFrom Abdullah bin Amr Radliallahu anhuma from the Prophet sallallaahualaihi wa sallam, he said: "Allah's blessing is found in the approval of parents, and Allah's wrath is also found in the anger of parents." (HR. Tirmidhi).

The meaning of the word 'parent' here are the figures of a man and a woman, namely the father and mother of a married couple who are bound in sacred bonds (mitsaqan ghalizah). Not only a man, but behind that there is a woman, a mother, who made Allah then make the word pleasure so sacred.

Islam even condemns the behavior of previous nations, especially the behavior of the Arabs of Jahiliyah who buried their baby girls alive. At-Takwir; 8-9This is both an affirmation and a rejection of the behavior of the Arabs of Jahiliyah and other nations, from Greece to Persia, who degraded women and treated them as the slaves of their own lusts and desires. lust they.

In another hadith, narrated by Abu Hurairah from the Prophet Muhammad. a man asked the Messenger of Allah. "O Messenger of Allah, who is the human being that I should respect properly?" he answered "Your mother". The person asked again "Then who?" Rasulullah replied "Your mother" "Then who?" asked the person again. "Your mother" answered the Prophet. "Who is it, then?" "Your father," said Rasulullah Saw.

Ų±ŁˆŲ§Ł‡ البخارى ŁˆŁ…Ų³Ł„Ł…

ā€œWho is the most important person to receive good treatment?ā€ The Prophet replied: ā€œYour mother.ā€ After that? The Prophet said: ā€œYour mother.ā€ Then after that? The Prophet once again emphasized: ā€œYour mother.ā€ Then? The Prophet said: ā€œYour father.ā€ (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)

This hadith provides a clear picture of the position of women in Islam. Nowhere in any religious teachings in the history of human civilization do they glorify the position of women, other than only in Islam. Everything related to women and their glory can only be found in Islamic teachings. Subhanallah.

Mother's Day Facts and Mother's Day

Regarding Mother's Day, which falls on December 22nd and is celebrated annually in Indonesia, the history of Mother's Day begins with the First Women's Congress, held in Yogyakarta from December 22nd to 25th, 1928. This Congress later became the basis for the observance of Mother's Day in Indonesia.

How about Mother's Day? Mother's Day is different from Mother's Day which is celebrated in various parts of the world. In the United States and more than 75 countries, such as Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May.

In several European and Middle Eastern countries, International Women's Day is celebrated every March 8. Mother's Day in the United States was first celebrated in 1908. Read (https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hari_Ibu).

Although these commemorations and celebrations are dedicated to honoring mothers, their warmth is limited to annual rituals, often accompanied by gifts, congratulations, family gatherings, and so on. These rituals, in essence, fail to truly represent the joy and struggles of a mother.

This ritual or celebration isn't the greatest offering for them. Rather, it's a small offering a child can make to their mother. Usually, after the gifts, celebrations, and family gatherings, the mother returns to her normal routine. For mothers, on Mother's Day, a ritual of respect should be performed daily, not annually.

Therefore, in Islam the celebration of Mother's Day is all the time, every day, throughout the month, throughout the year and forever. Praying for a mother, parent, every day in Islam is the highest form of respect. The best form of devotion that a child can offer to his mother. So it is not wrong that a beautiful poem was uttered by Sheikh Muhammad al-Ghazali with the expression:

God willing انسان Ų³ŁˆŁ‰ طيب

"A mother is a cool breeze that breathes peace and love into every aspect of life. And she is very influential in shaping a good human being." (Muhammad Sheikh al-Ghazali, As-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah Baina ahl al-Fiqh wa ahl al-Hadith, Dar as-Syuruq, Beirut, 1988, p.125. Read Fahmina

Women are strong figures, they are capable of being a mother and a queen at the same time.

It's fascinating how women's position in history has often been overlooked, yet Islam elevates them so loftily. What are your views on the role of women in modern society today? Can the values taught in Islam be applied to improve women's status and rights in the contemporary era?
