Islamic Religious Counselor's Da'wah

In the Encyclopedia of Islam, the word of preaching (invitations, religious calls, summons) defined by "a term that has acquired a number of meanings in the history of Islam, but it is mainly thought of as religious outrange for purposes of conversion or bringing lapsed Muslims back into the faith"

The term da'wah is a term derived from Islamic history where the aim is to provide a warning to other believers, especially Muslims who neglect to return to Islam and the faith. Dr. Abdul Karîm Zaidân in his book Principles of Da'wah explaining the meaning of da'wah is inviting people to Allah and being ordered to convey Islamic teachings to all mankind.

Meanwhile, according to Turkish scholar Badiuzzaman Said Nursi, da'wah is defined as sincere intentions and service to society, seeking God's pleasure, prioritizing the values of truth, conscience, and justice. Furthermore, according to Nursi, da'wah is a movement that does not attach itself to political and power issues, and it must maintain and foster brotherhood among both fellow Muslims and non-Muslims.

There are different terms from some Muslim scholars or intellectuals in using the term for da'wah, this term is known as hisbah. For example, Imam al-Ghazali used the term hisbah, as did Ibn Khaldun. Imam al-Ghazali defines hisbah as "an effort to prevent evil (violation) of Allah's rights with the aim of preventing the person being prevented from committing evil." Meanwhile, Ibn Khaldun defines hisbah as a religious obligation that falls into the category amar ma'ruf And forbidding evil.

As for Imam al-Mawardi in his book al-Ahkâm as-Shulthâniyyah, Ibn al-Khuwwah in his work Ma'alimu 'I-Qurbah, Umar bin Muhammad As-Sanami in his book Nishabu'I-IhtisabEach of these scholars defines hisbah as calling for what is right when it has been abandoned and preventing what is evil when it has been done. From the entire definition above regarding hisbah, it was summarized again and then simplified by Ustadz Ali Al-Khafîf who said "Al hisbah according to the ulama is calling for what is right when it has been clearly abandoned and preventing what is evil when it has actually been done."

Although there are differences in the terms for both da'wah and hisbah, scholars agree that their definitions are clear and unambiguous. Calling, inviting, and warning people to the path of Allah. Enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. Therefore, it can be agreed that these two terms are not contradictory; rather, they inherently strengthen and complement each other.

Islamic Religious Instructor's Preaching Strategy in the Modern Era

Referring to the four main duties and functions of Islamic religious instructors mentioned above, their preaching must be in line with Islamic principles and values. To ensure these values remain alive, a preaching method is required. up to date. This modern method of preaching has since been adapted to societal developments. Previously, the command to preach was entrusted solely to the Prophets and Apostles.

However, after the descent of the final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the mission of da'wah was inherited and then entrusted to the Muslim community, becoming a way of life for every Muslim. In other words, Muslims are the successors or successors of Islamic da'wah. Of course, in carrying out the da'wah mission, a Muslim must thoroughly understand what the object of da'wah is? What is the environment surrounding the da'wah field? This is deemed necessary to study to support a targeted da'wah strategy.

Da'wah through Social Media

The rapid global flow of information technology is unavoidable, but neither should it be fully embraced. Social media, with all its forms and forms, is forcing da'wah activists and instructors to adapt. For example, the presence of social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram offers alternatives for da'wah on social media. Therefore, it's no surprise that in the early days, the West Sumbawa Ministry of Religious Affairs, through Islamic Religious Instructors, launched the program “Basatotang” directly involved in creating da'wah on the YouTube channel to expand the field of da'wah.

Preaching through social media is an innovative way to encourage and remind people to obey Allah SWT's commands and avoid His prohibitions through engaging content and easy-to-understand information. When preaching through social media, we should aim for our good deeds to be judged solely for Allah SWT. Preaching is the duty of every Muslim worldwide. The modern era is no excuse for neglecting to convey even a single verse. Social media is not just entertainment; it is a tool for strengthening ties of friendship through contemporary preaching methods.

And Allah knows best
