Intellectuals who support pluralism argue with the Al-Quran Surah Al-Ma'idah verse 69 and Al-Baqarah 62, which essentially means that Jews, Christians and Sabeans will enter heaven if they believe in Allah, the Last Day and do good deeds.
According to Ibn Taymiyyah the sound of the verse Al-Baqarah verse 62 "Believe in Allah and the Last Day" cannot be understood literally, but needs to be interpreted. According to Al-Baydhawi, what is meant in the two verses is, the People of the Book before the arrival of Islam and this is in accordance with Causes of Nuzul both of these verses.
However, for Al-Tabari who refers to Ibn Abbas these two verses have mansukh by letter Al-Imran verse 85, “Anyone who embraces a religion other than Islam will not be accepted… (See Hikmat Aib Bashir Ibn Yasin, Al Tafsir as- Sahih, mausu'ah al-Sahih, Al-Masbur min al Tafsir bi al Ma'thur, 2 Volumes, Volume 1, Dar Al-Ma'athir Madinah, 1999, 169.)
All the different interpretations lead to one conclusion that the People of the Book are not guaranteed entry into Paradise unless they convert to Islam first.
Furthermore, if they remain firm in their position that Jews, Sabean Christians and followers of other religions will still enter heaven, then they need to explain why the Prophet Muhammad SAW invited kings who were followers of religions other than Islam to convert to Islam at that time!
Pluralists usually argue that Islam considers itself the most correct religion and considers other religions to be wrong and have the potential to be fundamentalist and terrorist.
And the black-and-white thinking of "If it's not pluralism, it's terrorism," is a very dangerous notion and is certainly opposed by all religions. Yet, tolerance within Islam is very rational, profound, and easily understood by anyone.
In conclusion, what proponents of pluralism are trying to promote is a form of social envy toward Islam as the true religion. Because they envy the truth of Islam, they create a confused and confusing understanding, as if other religions are also true.
And seeking recognition for the confusion of their doctrine, besides that also because of the matter of stomachs that have not been full for a long time.
