“Today, nature cries out with a scream. Mountains evaporate, smoke billows. Winds lash, tearing apart. The sea crawls and pounces. The forests send a terrifying message. Do humans think they can live freely in this world?”_ Fadhil Sofian Hadi
In 2001, a book was published entitled Lâ Tahzân (Don't Be Sad). This book by a Middle Eastern scholar has become best sellers in Indonesia. It seems that the author, Dr. Aid Abdullah al-Qarni, is sending an implicit message to the world by saying, "Don't despair! There is still Allah." Don't be sad, Allah is with us."“
Time continues to turn, the wheels of life increasingly intertwined. Humanity witnesses how the world seems to be ignored. One person feels superior to another. One nation feels powerful over another. God's message and role seem marginalized.
Humans are unaware of their own power. They feel superior, yet they lack the power to do so. Arrogance arises, which then turns into greed. Greed manifests itself in humans, leading them to do anything to satisfy their inner desires.
Today, the world is shaken. War rages. Murder, massacre, and power struggles are becoming increasingly unstoppable. Mutual killing is inevitable. The war continues to inflict casualties. Cries of pain and suffering echo throughout the land. Greed and power truly transform humans into terrifying beasts.
It's unimaginable how truly savage humanity has become. Reason, the distinguishing factor between humans and reptiles, is no longer seen as a 'gift' from God. Instead, reason is used to deceive and forget God. Naû’'zubillah
“Maybe God is getting bored of our behavior.
Who is always wrong and proud of his sins”
That's the lyrics of Ebit G. Ade's song. A short message full of meaning. A satire on humans who forget their arrogant behavior. They're happy about their sins. Their right to life is used for arrogance, oppression, and greed.
In Indonesia, a country that is rich, fertile, prosperous, safe and peaceful. The ripples of arrogance of a handful of people have reached their peak. Nature is sick of watching. The sea, mountains, hills and forests are also disgusted by the sight of human arrogance. Nature wants to destroy that arrogance.
Today, nature cries out with a scream. Mountains evaporate, smoke billows. Winds lash, splitting. The sea crawls and pounces. The forests send a terrifying message. Do humans think they can live freely in the world? Do they think that silent creatures are weak?
They were truly mistaken. Water is indeed spineless. Wind is indeed unpredictable. Mountains are indeed silent. But, if God gives the command, they will roll, crash, and destroy the earth and everything in it. Their voices are even louder than any scream. A terrifying echo and a terrifying roar.
Then came the Lord's cry:
God bless you God bless you لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
“"“It has been seen that damage on land and at sea is caused by the actions of human hands, so that Allah will make them feel part of (the consequences of) their actions, so that they will return (to the right path)."” (QS. Ar-Rum Verse 41)
Shaykh Prof. Dr. Wahbah az-Zuhaili, explains the meaning of this verse that; Damage has been seen in various ways such as aridity, drought, fire, flood, disease, anxiety and being held captive by enemies due to human disobedience and sin. So that Allah makes them feel the reward for some of their actions in this world before being punished in the afterlife and so that they can return from their disobedience and repent for (their) sins.
Currently, corners of the Indonesian islands are 'flooded' with expressions of prayer and hope.
Pray for Sumatra.
Pray for Lumajang.
Pray for Jakarta.
Pray for Sulawesi.
However, do we understand that this expression is a groaning cry resulting from greed? The fruit of injustice and the pinnacle of human greed. They have plundered the earth. They have cut down forests. Now, the mountains, hills, seas, and their armies are ready to turn against human greed. This is God's warning, to awaken these arrogant and haughty humans.
Given the rampant dangers and disasters plaguing Indonesia, regret is now futile. Even lamentation can prevent this. Only silent prayers remain for the good of this country. In time, greedy humans will receive their just reward.
We once again pray and strengthen our hope that there is still hope to rise from adversity. There is still room for positive thinking about God. Laa Tahzan (don't be sad) Allah is with us.
May Indonesia recover quickly. Leaders and officials will reform themselves and reform themselves from policies that have caused suffering to the people.
,May the victims of the floods, the Mount Merapi eruptions, the earthquakes, and the tsunamis be strengthened in their hearts and faith, and granted fortitude and patience in the face of the calamities that have befallen them. Amen, O Lord of the Worlds
